28/5/25 So what if I am blasphemous?

In a world where there are so many divergences when it comes to religious beliefs, I stand at the very left of the spectrum in my faith in dogmas.  All the religious doctrines are invalid, based on my findings so far.

They are fueled by narrow-minded zealots who believe in the purity of their religious teachings to the point, they just swallow everything lock, stock, and barrel without questioning the validity of the doctrines.

What a shame.  These people are akin to the cult following, except the numbers are much larger than your typical cult.  Why do I classify them as cult?  For the simple reason that they worship their leader without questioning the reason and intention of the leader.  The example of this is the wee-hour morning dzikir of the Prophet's name for 500 times, based on the notion that only with the grace of the Prophet shall we enter heaven.  This contradicts the Quran and Hadith, which state, you enter heaven by the blessing of Allah.

Surah An-Nisa (4:175):

"Then He will admit them to His mercy and bounty and guide them to Himself on a straight path."

If you're referring to the idea that no one enters Paradise solely by deeds but only by Allah’s mercy, that is also strongly emphasized in Hadith:

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:

"No one will enter Paradise by his deeds alone."

They said, “Not even you, O Messenger of Allah?”

He said: "Not even me, unless Allah covers me with His mercy and grace."
— [Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim]

One such case is the overly sensitive Mazhab Shafie.  To these people, not only do they revere their Prophet to the level of divinity, but they also regard the other sects as un-Islamic.  Particularly the Syiah.

The Mazhab Shafie is the most zealous among the sects to the point that they cannot tolerate even porcine DNA in their food. This is contrary to the Quran (mind you) that forbids the eating of pork only.

The verse in Surah Al-Maa’idah (Chapter 5) that prohibits the consumption of pork is Ayah 3:

Surah Al-Maa’idah 5:3

حُرِّمَتْ عَلَيْكُمُ الْمَيْتَةُ وَالدَّمُ وَلَحْمُ الْخِنزِيرِ...

Transliteration:

Ḥurri mat ʿalaykumu al-maytatu wa al-damu wa laḥmu al-khinzīr...

Translation:

“Prohibited to you are dead animals, blood, the flesh of swine...”

Key Arabic Word:

  • لَحْمُ الْخِنزِيرِ (lahmu al-khinzīr) = "the flesh of swine", i.e., pork.

This verse clearly states that pork is forbidden for Muslims, along with carrion (dead meat not properly slaughtered) and blood.

This is the same sect that forbids the touching of dogs and the covering of the hair by women.  In this regard, the Quran only talks about covering the bosoms.

The term "Juyubihinna" (جُيُوبِهِنَّ) appears in the Qur'an, specifically in Surah An-Nur (24:31):

وَلْيَضْرِبْنَ بِخُمُرِهِنَّ عَلَىٰ جُيُوبِهِنَّ
“...and draw their veils over their bosoms...”

Meaning of Juyubihinna (جُيُوبِهِنَّ):

  • "Juyub" (جُيُوب) is the plural of "jayb" (جَيْب).

  • In classical Arabic, "jayb" refers to:

    • The opening of a garment (like a neckline or chest area).

    • By extension, it came to mean the bosom or chest area of a woman — not anatomically, but as the part of the body covered by clothing.

So, "Juyubihinna" means:

"Their bosoms" or "the openings of their garments (around the chest)".

And the instruction in the verse is for believing women to cover this area by drawing their veils (khumur) over it — a modesty practice.

Alas, nobody ever accused Mazhab Shafie as a cult due to the sheer numbers of its followers.

So today I stand corrected if I view them as bigots and accuse them of bigotry.
